3.6.1
Connecting the system to the cold and hot water
network
On the calorifier side we find the fittings for connecting the “
COLD
WATER INLET
” and the “
HOT WATER OUTLET
”, which can be iden-
tified, respectively, by the blue and red rosettes.
a
WARNING
The connections with the cold and hot water network
must be made using detachable couplings and not by
welding them.
– First the safety valve (10 bar) must be screwed onto the “
COLD
WATER INLET
” and then a ball valve. The ball valve must then
be attached to the cold water supply by means of an insulated
plastic pipe.
Fig. 11
NOTE
: the safety valve must have a drainage pipe connected to
the output. This pipe must rest on the ground, where the hot wa-
ter drain is safe and free of paved areas. Do not close not block
the ends of the drainage pipe or output valve. Drinking water can
be drained from this pipe whenever there is a high amount of
sunlight.
– The “
HOT WATER OUTLET
” is connected to the hot water fitting
of the usage circuit using an insulated plastic pipe. A plastic
pipe is recommended for minimising galvanic corrosion.
–
Fill the tank WITH WATER:
with the ball valve and the hot water
tap open, the water storage tank can be filled with cold wa-
ter. When water starts flowing out of the tap, the water storage
tank is full and the hot water tap can be closed.
– In order to avoid burns due to hot water, mount a thermostatic
valve on the solar water heater and adjust it to 38°C.
3.6.2
Filling the closed circuit
a
WARNING
Before starting to fill the closed circuit with anti-freeze
liquid, the boiler must be filled with water.
– Connect the water supply pipe to the specially designed filling
device, on the right of the calorifier, and fill the closed circuit to
roughly half-way.
Fig. 12
– Dilute the anti-freeze liquid with twice the amount of water, in
a clean container.
– Disconnect the supply pipe of the filling device and empty the
anti-freeze liquid solution, already prepared, with the aid of a
funnel. Connect the filling pipe again and fill up the closed cir-
cuit.
a
ATTENTION
The last filling phase should be realized with controlled
flow, given that at the closed loop overflow (safety valve
connection point) the fluid may reach high temperatu-
res, which may mean risk of skin burns.
– Once the closed circuit has been filled up, screw the 2.5/1.5 bar
safety valve hermetically onto its position and disconnect the
filling pipe from the filling device, closing it with the relevant
cap.
