6. Commissioning
6.1. Switching on
- Make sure there is a mains voltage and switch the motor safety switch on.
- Switch on the power unit for the ionisation.
6.2. Adjusting the air flow
The quantity of air blown out can be set using the discs on the side of the blower. When the
VolumION is fitted with air filters, the air flow cannot be adjusted.
- Release the discs by loosening the wing nuts.
- Turn the discs to the left or right for more or less air.
- Lock the discs by tightening the wing nuts.
6.3. Switching off
- Switch off the motor safety switch.
- Switch off the power unit for the ionisation.
7. Functional check
- Check that the high voltage indicator lamps on the high voltage power unit light up. This
indicates the presence of a high voltage.
- Use a Simco-Ion bar tester or a Tens
ION
Voltage Detector to check if there is high voltage on
the emitter points of the bars.
- Use a Simco-Ion fieldmeter to determine the efficiency of the blower. Measure the charge on
the material before and after the blower. The electrostatic charge measured on the product
should have disappeared after the material has passed the blower.
8. Maintenance
Warning:
- Disconnect the power supply before carrying out work on the unit.
- There is a risk of injury from the fan blades with turning blades and open VolumION.
- The emitter points of the VolumION are sharp and can cause injuries.
Note:
- Do not damage the emitter points.
Make sure that the VolumION is switched off and cannot be inadvertently switched on. This can
be done by switching off the motor safety switch, for example.
