4.3 Mounting the magnetic sensor
Alignment of the magnetic sensor
` Take care that the magnetic sensor is aligned correctly in order to
ensure optimum sensing (see
Fig. 6
,
Fig. 7
).
1. Mount the magnetic tape (see chapter
4.2
).
2. The direction of the arrow of the sensor imprint must tally with the
direction of the arrow of the tape imprint for alignment (
Fig. 6
).

The position of the sensor regarding the magnetic tape is exactly defined.
When mounting, special care shall be taken to maintain an air gap
between tape and sensor over the whole measurement distance whether
the tape or sensor is moved or not (see
Fig. 7
). As a mounting aid you may
use the enclosed spacing template.
Within the defined position deviation

, the measuring error is neg-
ligible. When using cover tape, the actual gap is reduced by the thickness
of cover tape including its adhesive film. An accumulation of the different
possible mounting tolerances should be avoided.
