WARNING
Unexpected start up following servicing and activation of the "Safe Torque Off / Safe
Standstill" function
If the function "Safe Torque Off / Safe Standstill" is not checked for proper function after
service work, then the drive can also start up unexpectedly after activating the "Safe Torque
Off" function.
Death, serious injury, or material damage can result.
● Upon conclusion of the service work on all safety function components (e.g. replacement
of components) you must verify and document proper function by carrying out the cyclical
function test. Read the chapter on "Cyclical Function Test" in your operating instructions.
WARNING
Training in the "Safe Torque Off / Safe Standstill" function
Any servicing that involves the "Safe Torque Off / Safe Standstill" function must be carried
out by trained qualified personnel only.
Incorrect operation of the safety function can allow the drive to start up unexpectedly.
Death, serious injury and damage to property can result.
● Ensure that everyone operating the "Safe Torque Off / Safe Standstill" function is trained
by the system integrator before they use it. Training includes studying the safety function
and its incorporation into the production process. The training must be documented.
WARNING
Motor coast down
If the "Safe Torque Off / Safe Stop" function is activated when the machine is rotating, the
motor power supply is disconnected after a settable delay time. The motor coasts down if it
has not already stopped.
Incorrect use can result in death, serious injury or substantial material damage.
● Put the appropriate safety measures in place in order to avoid danger to people resulting
from the motor coasting down after disconnection of the power supply.
WARNING
Restart
Drive systems in which power supply to the motor is also possible via the load – e.g. ship's
drives, conveyors, fans, etc. – cannot be protected against restart using the "Safe Torque
Off" function.
Sudden and unexpected restart of the motor can result in death, serious injury or substantial
material damage.
● Take appropriate countermeasures such as mechanical braking.
