4.7 Mounting an input or output element on the gearbox shaft

Assemble the input and output elements in such a way as to minimize the stress on shafts

and bearings from transverse forces.

1.

Use either petrol ether or solvent to remove the anti-corrosion protection from the shaft

ends and flanges, or remove the applied protective skin.

Heat the input or output elements, if provided

Fit the drive input and output elements to the shafts.

Secure the input or output elements, if provided.

You have now fitted the input or output element.
