Floating
With floating input/output modules, the reference potentials of the control and
load circuits are electrically isolated, for example using optocouplers or relay
contacts. Input/output circuits can be connected to common potential.
FREEZE
is a control command of the DP master to a group of DP slaves.
After receiving the FREEZE control command, the DP slave freezes the current
state of the inputs and transfers this status to the DP master cyclically.
Following each new FREEZE control command, the DP slave freezes the state
of its inputs again.
The input data are only transferred cyclically by the DP slave to the DP master
again when the DP master sends the UNFREEZE control command.
Functional ground
Grounding that only serves to ensure the intended function of the electrical
equipment. With functional grounding, spurious voltages are short-circuited that
would otherwise have an unacceptable influence on the equipment.
Ground
The conductive ground area whose electrical potential can be set to zero at any
point.
In the area of grounding electrodes, the ground area can have a potential other
than zero. In this case, the term ”Reference Ground” is often used.
Grounding
Grounding means connecting an electrically conductive part via a grounding
system to the grounding electrode.
IP 20
Degree of protection complying with DIN 40050: This provides protection against
contact with fingers and against the penetration of foreign bodies with a diameter
greater than 12 mm.
