Operation
6.3
Quick start
A PC need not be connected when the CLV490 is operated with the factory default settings.
Code 39, 2/5 Interleaved, and Code 128 are the default code types enabled (free code
lenght, 2/5 Interleaved: interval 4 to 50 characters).
6.3.1
Starting up the CLV490 with the factory default settings
1.
Connect the CLV490 as followed:
CDB420 Connection Module: use the cable no. 2027046 (connector cover, IP 65).
Alternatively, connect the CLV490 via the cable no. 2030023 (connector cover with ex-
ternal parameter memory, IP 65).
CDM490 Connection Module: use two cables no. 2020302.
Alternatively, connect the CLV490 via the cable no. 2020307 (connector cover with ex-
ternal parameter memory, IP 65).
2.
Connect the reading pulse sensor (e. g. photoelectric reflex switch) to the "Sensor (1)"
switching input of the CLV490 via the CDB420 or CDM490 (see
Connecting the "Sensor" switching input, Page 5-22
3.
Switch on the power supply of the CDB420 or CDM490.
The CLV490 starts. The "Device Ready" LED lights up.
The "Result 1" ("Device Ready") output switches.
CLV490 with external parameter memory in the connector cover connected
:
If no
CMC400 parameter memory module
is available in the
CDB420 or CDM490
Connection Module
the CLV490 will operated as followed:
If an external parameter memory in the connector cover containing a corresponding
parameter set is connected to the CLV490, the "Device Ready" LED blinks for 10 s
when the device starts up correctly and then lights up constantly.
If the external parameter memory in the connector cover is empty, the CLV490 copies
its parameter set to the external parameter memory. Then the "Device Ready" LED
lights up. The CLV490 is ready for operation.
If a
CMC400
is available in the
CDB420 or CDM490
the CLV490 cancels the function
of the external parameter memory in the connector cover. The CLV490 supports the
CMC400 from firmware V 3.30 on.
Line scanner with oscillating mirror:
In the default setting, the CLV490 deflects the scan line around the position CW = 50
with a frequency of 1 Hz and an oscillating amplitude of
±
20
°
(
±
40 CW). 50 CW
correspond to a deflection angle below 105
°
.
4.
Start the reading pulse: block the light path of the photoelectric switch or close the
switch. The "Sensor" LED lights up. The CLV490 switches the laser diode on and the
red scan line appears.
5.
Present the bar code pattern (
) to the CLV490 at the reading
distance specified in
.
The scan line must not hit any object in a distance closer to the CLV490 than the
represented bar code (default setting: autofocus mode "Minimum distance").
6.
Align the bar code in such a way that the red scan line is almost at a 90
°
angle to the
bars (line scanner) or that the red scan line sweeps the bars at a 90
°
angle when it is
deflected (oscillating mirror).
7.
End the reading pulse: unblock the light path of the photoelectric switch or open the
switch. The "Sensor" LED is extinguished. The CLV490 switches the laser diode off. The
CLV490 confirms that the bar code was read successfully (the "Read Result" LED lights
