Connections/cables for the CDB420 Connection Modules
The CDB420 Connection Module is suitable for connecting
one CLV490 without/with
heater
to peripherals (distribution function) and the power supply. The module can be used
to establish a connection to the host (point-to-point) or to integrate the device in a SICK CAN
Scanner Network. The module is available in two variants and can be operated without op-
tional modules (see below) with an operating temperature to –35
°
C (–31
°
F). For technical
data see
Chapter 10.13.3 Accessories: Hoods, Page 10-75

CMC400 Connection Module Cloning for saving the parameters of the CLV490 exter-
nally
Because only one 15-pin D Sub HD socket respectively screw terminal strips for the power
supply via cable glands are available for connecting the CLV490 to the CDB420, the number
of signals which can be connected using the terminal strips in the CDB420 are limited.
shows the connection principle of the CDB420.
The procedures for connecting and configuring the connection module are described in the
"CDB420 Connection Module" Operating Instructions
(order no. 8010001, German/
English).
Note
Diagrams showing you how to connect the CDB420 Connection Module are also available
in the “CLV Connect“ PC program. This software is available on the “Manuals & Software“
CD-ROM, which is included in the scope of delivery of the CLV490. The software can also
be downloaded from the SICK home page (www.sick.com) at “Service&Support/Download-
pool“. It can be called up using a standard HTML browser (e. g. Internet Explorer
TM
).
Connecting the CLV490 to the CDB420
a) CLV490 without heater
The following connection cables
with
connector cover for the CLV490 can be used:
No. 2027046 (3 m (3.84 ft)) or no. 2030023 (3 m (3.84 ft)).
The cables can be extended to 10 m (32.8 ft) (auxiliary interface: RS 232!).
