PORTABLE SELECTIVE MICROPROCESSOR METAL DETECTOR MOLE
Ground level is conditionally shown by the dash line
at the LCD upper part. The presence of discontinuities (cavi-
ties or nonconductive objects) at the surface ground level
is shown by the curving line (fig. 35). At that, discrete audio
alarm is heard.
The device automatically switches off in case it does
not move for 20 min or, while storage battery discharging to
the voltage lower than 6V.
In the special mode the signal reflected from the object
is displayed at the LCD screen. By its form and audio alarm
it is possible to define the type and orientation of the object
with high probability (fig. 36).
While operating in the special mode it is possible to
switch to the additional mode of defining the size and the
distance to the object. In both modes there is a capability to
perform selective search (masking) of the objects with
definite features or, vice versa, rejection, i.e. ignoring of
particular objects. In the case of selective search only au-
dio alarm for ignored objects is absent, whereas LCD dis-
plays all detected objects.
The indication of various object features is based on
shifting of phases between emitted and reflected from the
object signals. The signal from ferrous metal object has
leftward phase shift, the signal from nonferrous metal and
alloy object has rightward phase shift. Shift value depends
on many factors: object’s size and form, its location relative
to the search head, structure and electrophysical features
of the object.
In the mode of defining the size and the distance to the
object the right half of the scale located under the graticule,
and in the special mode upper right and bottom left sectors
correspond to nonferrous metals, and left half of the scale
and, respectively, upper left and bottom right sectors - to
ferrous metals. Also, high tone of the signal corresponds to
nonferrous metals and it increases when the signal increases,
and low tone of the signal, which decreases when the signal
increases, corresponds to ferrous metals.
