Contactors C195 Series – Installation and Maintenance Instructions
Component
Tests/checks
Measures
Contactor housing
Check for:
X
dirt
X
damage or heavy wear
X
penetrations, holes in housing walls
X
loose or missing fastening elements
In case of faults:
X
remove any dirt that may be present
X
in case of damage or heavy wear on
the housing, replace the complete con-
tact unit, see
“8.3.3 Replacing the com-
plete contact unit – type C195 X/”
or
“8.4.3 Replacing the complete con-
tact unit – type C195 A/, B/, S/, T/, W/”
X
if there are holes in the housing walls,
replace the complete contact unit, see
see
“8.3.3 Replacing the complete con-
tact unit – type C195 X/”
or
“8.4.3 Replacing the complete con-
tact unit – type C195 A/, B/, S/, T/, W/”
X
tighten loose fastening elements im-
mediately replace missing fastening
elements
X
tighten a loose contactor immediately
Magnetic drive
Check for:
X
damage or heavy wear
X
damage due to operation with impermissible,
too high coil voltage
In case of faults:
X
if damaged or heavily worn, replace
the complete magnetic drive unit, see
“8.3.4 Replacing the magnetic drive –
type C195 X/”
or
“8.4.4 Replacing the magnetic drive
– type C195 A/, B/, S/, T/, W/”
Arcing chambers
(only for C195 X/
C195 A/, C195 A/...BD,
C195 B)
Check for:
X
damage or heavy wear
X
traces of combustion residue (slight soot depos-
its permitted)
In case of faults:
X
in case of damage or heavy wear , re-
place the arcing chambers, see
“8.3.5 Replacing the arcing chambers –
type C195 X/”
or
“8.4.5 Replacing the arcing chamber
– type C195 A/ und C195 B/”
Main contacts
(both stationary
contacts and moving
contact bridge)
Complete contact
unit
Prior to checking the main contacts, the cover of
the contact unit must first be removed, see section
“8.3.7 Replacing the main contacts – type C195 X/”
or
“8.4.7 Replacing the main contacts –
type C195 A/, B/, S/, T/, W/”
Thereafter, the main contacts are accessible and
can be checked for:
X
damage or wear
X
traces of combustion residue (slight soot depos-
its permitted)
A certain level of experience is required to as-
sess the state of the contacts. Even after a few
load switching cycles, to a lay user the contacts
appear worn and the surroundings fouled. Re-
placement of the main contacts is only necessa-
ry after more than 70% of the contact material
is burnt through (minimum coating: 0.3 mm,
in new condition: 1.2 mm).
In case of faults:
X
if more than 70% of the contact mate-
rial is burnt through, replace the main
contacts, see.
X
“8.3.7 Replacing the main contacts –
type C195 X/”
and
“8.3.6 Replacing the contact bridge
unit – type C195 X/”
or
“8.4.7 Replacing the main contacts –
type C195 A/, B/, S/, T/, W/”
and
“8.4.6 Replacing the contact bridge
unit – type C195 A/, B/, S/, T/, W/”
X
If there is additional, heavy wear on the
housing, replace the complete contact
unit, see
“8.3.3 Replacing the complete contact
unit – type C195 X/”
or
“8.4.3 Replacing the complete con-
tact unit – type C195 A/, B/, S/, T/, W/”
