10 Start up of cassettes
Preferably a Sartorius Stedim Biotech holder with hydraulic closure, such as a Sartoflow ® 10 or Sartoflow ® 20,
should be used with Sartocon ® ECO cassettes.

If you wish to use an older Sartorius Stedim Biotech holder or a holding devices supplied by other manufacturers,
you need to apply a different torque or hydraulic pressure. Compression can be checked by using a clamp force
measuring device. To avoid cassette damage, please contact our application specialist.
2.3 Flushing the Filter Cassettes
Flush the filter cassettes as indicated below:

Before initial use with purified water

With buffer or physiological saline before filtration
t
With buffer or physiological saline before cleaning
t
With purified water after cleaning
t
With purified water after disinfection
t
With purified water before checking the functionality of the filter cassettes
Flush Procedure for Cassettes
The installed cassettes must be flushed with purified water at the recommended
approx. ratio of retentate to permeate listed below.

The cassette must be flushed with 10 l purified water per 0.1 m

filter area.
The permeate and the retentate must be drained.
