INSTALLATION
Wiring the Interrupters and
Charging Motors
Repeat Steps 39 through 45 for each interrupter
and charging motor.
Ç
CAUTION
DO NOT
remove the window bolts on the
interrupter. The interrupter is pressurized to
75 PSIG.
Serious injury could occur.
Step 39
Remove the outer motor bracket. Retain the
hardware. Remove the three removable screws
of the interrupter electrical junction box
cover. Retain the hardware. Loosen the fourth
retaining screw. Swing out the cover to access
the wiring inside the electrical junction box. See
Figures 36 through 38.
Step 40
Following the wiring diagram furnished,
connect the conduit wiring to the wiring inside
the electrical junction box. Use the butt splices
supplied with the junction-box wiring. The butt
splices accommodate 18 to 22 AWG wire.
NOTICE
To ensure proper crimping of the butt
splices, use a Panduit controlled-cycle hand
tool (CT-1550) or a similar tool for attaching
18- to 20-gauge insulated ring lugs.
Step 41
Rotate the cover of the electrical junction box
and replace the retained screws. See Figure 37.
Securely tighten all screws. Reinstall the motor
bracket removed in Step 39. Torque the removed
5/8-inch stud nuts to between 70 and 80 ft.-lbs.
See Figure 36.
NOTICE
When inserting the connected wires in the
electrical junction box, ensure that no wires
are pinched underneath the junction box
cover. Trim excessive wire length from the
interrupter’s electrical junction box wiring
before installation, if necessary.
