International roaming
Before using the terminal overseas
Before leaving Japan
Before using the terminal overseas, check the following information in
Japan.
■ Subscription
• Confirm your application status of WORLD WING. For details, contact
"docomo Information Center" on the last page of this manual.
■ Charging
• For details on charging, refer to NTT DOCOMO website.
■ Usage charge
• Overseas usage charge (call and packet communication) differs from
those in Japan. For details, see NTT DOCOMO website.
• Since some apps automatically perform communications, packet
communication charges may become high. For operation of apps,
contact the app providers.
Advance preparation
■ About setting network service
If you subscribed to network services, Voice mail service, Call forwarding
service and Caller ID display request service are available from overseas.
However, some network services may not be used.
• To use network services overseas, you need to activate "Remote
operation". Alternatively, you can set "Remote operation (charged)"
overseas. Setting in Japan (P.58), Setting overseas (P.138).
• Even if the setting/canceling operation is available, some network
services cannot be used depending on overseas network operators.
After arriving overseas
When you arrive overseas and turn on the terminal, an available network is
automatically connected.
■ Connection
The optimum network will be selected automatically if "Select
automatically" is selected in "Network operators".
Settings for overseas use
■ Setting data roaming
To perform packet communications overseas, set Data roaming settings
to ON.

■ Setting a network operator
By default, the terminal is set to automatically search and switch to an
available network. To switch network manually, perform the following
operations.

From the Home screen, "apps folder" → "Settings" →
"Connections" → "Mobile networks" → "Network operators"
→ "Search networks"
Available networks are searched for and displayed.
• Error occurs in network search, turn "Mobile data" OFF and retry
(P.103).

Select a network of the network operator

• If you tap "Select automatically" in Step 1, the network that can be
used will be detected and automatically selected.
■ Setting network mode

"Connections" → "Mobile networks" → "Network mode"

"4G/3G/GSM (auto connect)"/"3G/GSM (auto
connect)"/"GSM only"
■ Date and time
When "Automatic date and time" in "Date and time" is set to ON, the
clock time and time difference of the terminal is corrected by receiving
information about time/time difference from the network overseas
operator.
• Depending on the network provided by overseas network operator,
time/time difference correction may not be performed correctly. In that
case, set time zone manually.
• Correction timing varies by overseas network operator in connection.
