5.7.1.
Essential information concerning mowing
Optimal operating parameters
1. Inclination forward 0-5 degrees, i.e. approx. 4.5-7 cm of mowing height.
2. Operating speed, V
≥
10 km/h.
3. Keep the constant PTO rpm = 900-1000 rpm. PTO rotations > 1000 rpm may lead to leaving
pieces of uncut grass between discs.
High and laid grasses
5. Inclination forward to be increased
–
H = approx. 4.5 cm.
6. Operating without inclination will lead to grass winding up onto drums.
7. Increase speed to V
≥
12 km/h. (the faster
–
the better).
8. Do not turn when in a grass windrow.
Optimal angle of the cutterbar in relation to the ground is 0° to 5°. With inclination greater than 5°
some minor unevenness in the mowed grass is likely. This slightly impairs the attractiveness of
the stubble after having been mown however has hardly any impact on the mower's operation.
With inclination of the cutterbar to the other side the quality of mowing is significantly impaired
and in extreme situations the mower fails to operate completely. What is more, this may lead to
damaging the slides and the cutterbar.
- In the event there is a majority of tall grass, the first and second mowing should be done at a
height of 6
–
7 cm, while with a majority of short grass, at a height of 5 cm. Therefore, the final
row should be cut a little bit higher so 7 - 7.5 cm from the ground.
- Too high tractor (motor) rpm will cause large whirls with the disks operating, which significantly
impairs the mowing quality.
- Too low tractor (motor) rpm will significantly impair the mowing quality, and in extreme
situations the mower fails to operate.
- On reclaimed meadows for first mowing or after heavy and long rainfall, reduce the pressure of
the cutterbar on the ground by adjusting the support springs.
