The scarifier is fitted with an engine stop device.
Before using the equipment for the first time, make sure that the engine stop safety
control bar is working perfectly. When the safety grip is released, the engine must
switch off and the cutting tool must come to a standstill (Caution! The cutting tool
runs for a while!). If this is not the case, please consult your nearest authorised
workshop.
After release, the bar must always return to the position shown in the
“Description
of components” diagram.
If this is not the case, it must be checked immediately by an authorised workshop.
Machine safety and protective devices must not be manipulated or disabled.
Make sure that all protective devices have been attached properly and are not
damaged.
Charging the battery (figure W1 )
The handling of the charger and battery is
described in the separate operating manual for
the charger.
In particular, read and follow the safety
information!
Charge the battery fully before initial use!
All safety information concerning the handling, storage,
safekeeping, transportation and disposal of the lithium-ion
battery, as well as first aid measures and measures for
extinguishing fires can be found in the “Produ

10 INITIAL USE OF THE SCARIFIER
Safety information!
For explanation of symbols,
see the table on page 2
Starting the engine (figure A2 )
Before starting the engine, ensure that the cutter shaft is in the
lifting position (1) Z2 .
Only start the engine when standing behind the scarifier.
Always place the scarifier on a level area which is not covered with high grass
(if the grass is too high it will block the cutter shaft start-up and make starting
the scarifier more difficult). When the engine is started, the machine must not
be tilted on end, if necessary it must be tilted by pressing the guide bar down
so that the cutting tool is pointing in the direction away from the user, but only
as far as absolutely necessary. As long as the device is not on all 4 wheels,
both of your hands must be on the top part of the bar.
–
Press and hold the start button (14) with your right hand.
–
Press the engine stop safety control bar (1) on the top part of the bar with
your left hand.
The cutter now runs as long as the safety control bar is kept pressed.
–
Release the start button.
11 SWITCHING OFF THE ENGINE (FIGURE F + K2 )
–
Release the safety control bar
F
.
–
Wait until the cutting tool comes to a stop.
–
Remove the safety key
K2
.
Attention! The cutting tool runs for a while!
12 EMERGENCY STOPPING
Release the safety control bar.
–
The cutting tool will stop.
–
The engine will stop.
ATTENTION
Before every scarifying job, make sure that the safety control bar is working
perfectly:
–
When the safety grip is released, the engine must switch off and the cutting
tool must come to a standstill (Caution! The cutting tool runs for a while!).
If this is not the case, please consult your nearest authorised workshop.
13 ADJUSTING THE SCARIFYING DEPTH
Safety information!
For explanation of symbols,
see the table on page 2
The scarifying depth must only be adjusted with the engine switched off!
The working depth depends on the blade wear, and must also be set taking into
account the relevant grass and ground conditions.
Always check and adjust the scarifying depth on a level area of lawn.
With the cutter shaft lowered, the blade should just be in contact with the turf.
A working depth of up to 3 mm is recommended. In the case of a well-tended lawn
with soft ground, the scarifying depth can be set slightly deeper. In case of a very
mossy lawn surface, the initial working depth should be slightly less.
Setting (figure Z2 + V2 )
The cutter shaft is in the lifting position (1) upon delivery
Z2
.
–
The scarifying depth is preset with the help of the grey latching element (2).
Press the latching element down slightly and engage it again in the desired
position
V2
. This latching element allows you to find the set working position
again at any time.
–
The cutter shaft is lowered to the selected working depth using the black lever (3)
on the left. First press the lever down slightly and then pull it to the stop on the
latching element (2)
V2
. The device can be lifted slightly at the top bar until the
back wheels are no longer in contact with the ground in order to reduce the
leverage forces.
–
To raise the cutter shaft from the set working position, the lever (3) is first pressed
down and then pushed all the way forward. The cutter shaft is no longer is use in
pos. (1). This does
not change
the preset scarifying depth
Z2
.
Scarifying test
–
On a new machine, engage the latching element (2) in the “
MIN
” position.
–
Start the engine.
–
Lower the cutter shaft.
