Palette Configuration
The sensor native video output of the thermal camera provides gradient images that represent
white as hot, black as cool, or the reverse (known as ‘black hot’ and ‘white hot’). The image
polarity commands available in pSEE™ permits fast switching between these image palettes. If
desired, there are eleven additional false-color palettes available that will map different ranges of
temperature to various shades of color (see Figure 6). Switching between these palettes may make
a target stand out more readily from the background.
When the polarity command is sent, the camera cycles through each available palette sequentially.
If more than two palettes are desired, the camera may be reconfigured to select how many
palettes to allow in this cycle. For black hot and white hot, this number is two. There are a
maximum of fifteen palettes total, although number 14/15 are redundant. With pSEE™ attached, a
command can be sent in the ‘Manual Commands’ tab to select the number of palettes:

Note that all commands are hexadecimal, and the table assumes camera ID is set to 1. For higher
IDs, the camera address must be incremented. For example:

Set Camera ID 1 with ten states, send: 81 10 45 01 0A E1 FF
•
Return Camera ID 1 to two states, send: 81 10 45 01 02 D9 FF
• Read back the number of the states, send: 81 10 45 00 D6 FF
