“Y” Adapter Cables
The SMC’s analog audio outputs are mini-stereo connectors� Use “Y” adapter
cables with one male 1/8-inch (3�5 mm) stereo mini-jack on one end and two
female RCA connectors on the other end to allow connection to standard RCA-
to-RCA extension cables� These cables are not provided� The number of “Y”
adapter cables you need to connect to the
home stereo system depends on the number of
speakers you install�
Note: You can also use “Y” adapter cables
with one male 1/8-inch (3�5 mm) stereo
mini-jack on one end and two male RCA
connectors on the other end if they will
be long enough for the RCA male plugs
to reach the powered speaker or A/V
receiver inputs�
Audio Output Direct to TV
You can connect the SMC’s audio output directly to a TV and use the TV’s audio
amplifiers and existing speakers. For left/right speakers:
Connect the male 1/8-inch (3�5 mm) stereo mini-plug end of a “Y” adapter to 1�
the Front L+R jack on the SMC’s rear panel�
Connect the adapter’s left-side RCA plug to the TV’s left input and the 2�
adapter’s right-side RCA plug to the TV’s right input�
