Country
- Select the country in which you are located.
State
- Where applicable. In some countries this option is blank
City
- Select a city near you or near where you will be if you are traveling.
Remember, you must be able to "hit this repeater".
Callsign
- The callsigns are those of the repeaters located in that city. You
may have been told to use one in particular. If you don't see it in the list, try a
different city. If it does not matter, select the first callsign and evaluate the
available frequencies associated with it. The frequencies appear in the next
box. You may need to select a different callsign if you need 440MHz or 2M
frequencies only for your particular radio.
2:
Search by Callsign
- At times you can't find a repeater you want to use because it is
listed in a location you don't expect. Rather than searching through all the cities in your
state, enter the call sign here to let the Calculator find that repeater for you. Once found,
the details will be displayed in the Source fields for you to use for channel set up.
3:
DVAP Hotspot
- A device used if you do not have a DStar repeater in range. This
device attaches to your computer with an Internet connection. The device converts your
signal for use over the Internet. Everything you can do through a local repeater (link to
reflector, link to repeater, callsign or repeater routing, talking, unlinking, echo test, etc.)
you can do through a Hotspot device.
Frequency
- Enter the frequency for your DVAP. Be sure to use a frequency
that is not a local repeater (FM or digital).
Name
- Enter your callsign for the system to use as the name and for RPT1
and RPT2 completion.
Offset Direction
- Many of the "Pi-" type decives need an offset direction
with a 0.00 Offset frequency to let you operate through them. Select Minus or
Plus (it often does not matter which one as long as one or the other is
selected) for this field to let the Calculator set up the channels automatically.
Complete RPT1 and RPT2
- Check the box to have the Calculator
automatically complete the information needed in RPT1 and RPT2 if your
device needs it. Again, many "Pi-" type devices need this information to
operate properly. The original DVAP does not.
4:
Destination
- The fields in this group refer to the output signal: where the signal is to
be heard. This is the beauty of D-Star. You can talk to the local repeater and be heard
anywhere around the world. You can come in one 2M and transmit out on a 440Mhz.
The programmer will create four channels for you automatically: Talk (T), Echo (E),
Status (I) and Unlink (U). You can stop the automatic creation by unchecking the
