Meters shown in the PAD TRANSIENT screen
In the PAD TRANSIENT screen, the “output meter” are displayed.
Output meter
The “output meter”
shows the output level
following the pad
transient.
Adjust the pad transient’s “Gain” so that the output meter does not exceed 0 dB (i.e., so that it does not clip).
PAD COMP
This is a compressor that is provided for each drum trigger.
Parameter
Value
Explanation
[F3] button
OFF, COMP ON
Turns pad compressor on/off.
Threshold
-48–0dB
Volume level at which compression begins
Gain
-24–+24dB
Output level of the compressor
Type
KICK 1, 2, SNARE1, 2, TOM 1, 2,
CYMBAL1, 2, SOFT COMP, HARD
COMP, LIMITER
Character of the compressor
* When you change this parameter, the pad compressor’s parameters RATIO, ATTACK, RELEASE,
and KNEE change to optimal settings for your selection. You can then make further adjustments
to these parameters as necessary.
RATIO
1:1–100:1
Compression ratio
ATTACK
0.1–100mSec
Time from when the volume goes up the threshold level until the compressor effect applies
RELEASE
10–1000mSec
Time from when the volume falls below the threshold level until the compressor effect no longer
applies
KNEE
HARD, SOFT1–3
Attack of the sound at the moment compression is applied
* For some settings of the “Pad Effect to Direct” and “Master Direct Sw” parameters in OUTPUT SETUP (p. 17), the pad compressor effect is not applied to the sound that is
output from the DIRECT OUT jacks (MASTER OUT jacks).
* Pad compressor settings are made for each drum trigger. It is not possible to make separate settings for different strike locations (such as the head and the rim).
Meters shown in the PAD COMP screen
In the PAD COMP screen, the “input meter,” the “gain reduction meter,” and the “output meter” are displayed.
Output meter
The “output meter” shows the output level
following the pad compressor.
Input meter
The “input meter”
shows the level (dB)
being input to the pad
compressor.
Gain reduction meter
The “gain reduction meter”
shows the change in level
(dB) produced by the pad
compressor.
Adjust the pad compressor’s “Gain” so that the output meter does not exceed 0 dB (i.e., so that it does not clip).
