Preparing the wilderness camera
The camera does not have its own integrated memory. Before use, a memory card
must be inserted into the camera. After inserting the memory card, ensure that you
format the memory card in the camera before using it.
a) Inserting/Removing the memory card
Disconnect the power supply to the camera before inserting or removing the memo-
ry card.
If you are using a memory card for the first time, there are data are stored on the
memory card that are not suitable for this camera or if the images taken by other
cameras could be recognised, you must format the memory card first. Do not use
memory cards formatted on another digital camera or card reader.
• Switch the wilderness camera off. To do
this, slide the slide switch to the OFF po-
sition (8).
• Fold the wilderness camera open. The SD
card slot is located inside the housing.
• Insert a memory card (SD, max. 32 GB)
into the corresponding slot until it clicks
into place. Please pay attention to the cor-
rect orientation. The correct orientation is
indicated by a small symbol. Check before-
hand that write protection on the memory
card is disabled.
• To remove the memory card, slightly push the slot in order to release the memory card.
The latching mechanism in the slot pushes the memory card out slightly so that it can be
easily removed.
Installing, assembling and aligning the wilderness camera
a) Installation and mounting
Ensure that no existing cables or pipes (including water pipes) are damaged when
drilling mounting holes or securing screws.
• Choose a suitable place for installation.
• Install the device on walls or trees. Use the attachments (dowels and screws) supplied.
• Use the mounting base as a template to mark the mounting holes.
• Pre-drill the size suitable for the dowels and insert them into the mounting holes.
• Screw the holder firmly onto the mounting base. To do this, remove a nut from the thread of
the holder (unscrew it clockwise).
• On the domed side, insert the threaded bolt into the hole in the centre of the base and
screw the second nut (counternut) from the opposite side. Use two suitable spanners, e.g.
an open-end and ring spanner, to tighten (lock) the two together. If necessary, adjust the
position of the threaded bolt with both nuts.
• Tighten the mounting base with the screws. On some suitable surfaces, e.g. wood, you can
screw in directly without the dowels.
• You can now screw the camera onto the tripod socket (22) on the holder (rotate the came-
ra). Secure the camera with the knurled nut by countering with your fingers. Do not lose
the plastic washer.
• You can also attach the camera to trees or posts using the strap supplied.
• To do this, guide the belt strap flat through the tabs on the back of the camera.
• Then, pull the strap around the circumference of a tree or post. Then secure it with the
buckle and tighten it so that the camera is securely anchored and cannot slide down.
It is advisable to screw on the wilderness camera only after the required settings
have been implemented. You can unscrew the camera again to implement changes
to settings and carry out maintenance. To do this, undo the countered knurled nut
and screws from the camera.
b) Aligning the camera
In SETUP mode (slide switch in position (7)), you can determine the optimal exposure angle
and the range of the motion sensor. Align the camera as follows:
• Attach the camera to a tree or similar object at a height of 1 to 2 metres and align the
camera in the desired direction. Then, move slowly from one side of the target area to the
other. Monitor the LED indicator (3). It lights up red when photos or videos are being taken.
• If the LED lights up blue, movement has been detected by the motion sensor. The motion
indicator only lights up when the slide switch is in the SETUP position (7) and one of the mo-
tion sensors has detected movement. During normal operation, there is no indicator here.
• To ensure that the camera does not record irrelevant movements, it should not be placed
in a sunny location or close to branches. The detection area of the sensor is 80°. The
camera's recording angle is approx. 90°.
Operation
a) Switching on and off
• Switch the wilderness camera on. To do this, slide the slide switch to the SETUP positi-
on (7). The welcome screen appears on the LC display (20).
• Set the slide switch to the OFF position (8) to switch the wilderness camera off.
• Implement the desired settings when using the device for the first time. For details on the
settings, see ‘Settings and functions in the OSD menu’.
When operating in ‘SETUP’ mode, the LC display (20) switches off automatically
after approx. 2 minutes to save power. Press any button to reactivate the LC display.
b) Operating modes
The camera has three operating modes: photo mode, video mode, combined photo and video
mode. In photo mode, the camera takes photos. In video mode, video recording starts when
activated by the sensor. In photo and video mode, the camera first takes a photo after activati-
on, and then starts recording.
Normal mode
In this mode, recordings are triggered by the motion sensor.
To set normal mode, slide the slide switch to the ON position (6).
The camera starts to work independently and switches to standby mode. As soon as wild ani-
mals or similar enter the detection area of the motion sensor, the camera is activated and
detects the movement. If a moving object moves further into the central detection area of the
sensor, the camera starts to take photos and/or record videos (depending on the configuration.
For details on the settings, see ‘Settings and functions in the OSD menu’).
After the living creature has moved out of the detection area of the sensor, the camera switches
off again and reverts to standby mode.
Night mode
The infrared LEDs (2) on the front of the camera provide the light needed to take photos at
night. The range of the LEDs enables the camera to take images over a 3 to 20 metre distance.
However, reflective objects can cause overexposure.
Please note that images taken at night are black and white. If you record a video for
an extended period of time, low voltage may affect the camera's recording quality. If
the battery is low, it is better not to take any images at night. Replace the batteries
as soon as possible to resume night operation.

d) Video recording mode/photo recording mode/photo and video mode
• To choose whether to take photos or record videos, select ‘Photo’ or ‘Video’, or select the
photo and video files from the menu.
• The selection is shown at the upper left of the LC display (20).
The camera automatically switches to video recording mode if the slide switch is in
the ON position (6). Observe the information at the top left of the LC display.
• In photo/video mode, the camera takes a photo after activation and then starts video re-
cording.
e) Playing/viewing recorded photos and videos
You can view photos and videos taken on the camera's LCD display (20).
Playback
• Remove the camera from its installation location.
• Slide the slide switch to the SETUP position (7).
• Press the PLAY button (16) and the left/right arrow buttons (15) or (18) to navigate between
the individual photos/videos while watching.
• When reviewing photos, press the left/right arrow buttons to scroll up or down.
• Press the OK button (17) to start video playback.
• Press the MENU button (14) to end playback.
• Press the button PLAY button (16) to return to standby mode.
Activating the slide show
With this function, you can automatically play back photos stored on the memory card. Each
photo is displayed for approximately 2 seconds.
• Press the PLAY button (16) to start the slide show.
• Press the OK button (17) to stop the slide show and to keep the current photo on the LC
display (20).
