notices to alert bystanders that potentially
hazardous operations are taking place nearby.
14. Use a vacuum dust extraction
machine in conjunction with this sander.
The workplace should be kept as clean and
dust free as possible. A dust filled room has
an explosive potential.
15. Ensure that there are no sources of
ignition nearby.
Dust suspended in the air
has an explosive potential.
16. Do not connect a domestic vacuum
cleaner to this machine.
A domestic
vacuum cleaner is not suitable for the
collection of dry wall dust particles.
WARNING:
the operation of any sanding
machine can result in foreign objects being
thrown towards your eyes, which could result
in severe eye damage. Before beginning
power tool operation, always wear safety
goggles or safety glasses with side shield
or a full face shield where needed.
WARNING:
If any parts are missing, do not
operate your machine until the missing parts
are replaced. Failure to follow this rule could
result in serious personal injury.
WARNING: SAFETY AND SECURITY
• During grinding, sanding, wire brushing
and polishing operations.
• During cutting operations with an
abrasive grinding wheel.
a) This electric tool is intended to function
as a sander.
Read all the safety warnings,
instructions, illustrations and specifications
provided with this power tool. Failure to
follow all instructions provided could result in
electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
b) Grinding, wire brushing, polishing or
cutting operations using this power tool
are not recommended.
Using this power
tool to perform operations for which it was
not specifically designed could cause a hazard
and heighten the risk of personal injury.
c) Only use accessories recommended
by the manufacturer and which have
been specifically designed for use with
this machine.
The fact that an accessory
can be attached to this power tool is not a
guarantee of safe operation.
d) The rated speed of the accessory
must be at least equal to the specified
maximum speed of the power tool.
Accessories running faster than their rated
speed can shatter or break.
e) Any accessory fitted must fit within
the machines sanding head.
Accessories
that are too large or too thick cannot
be adequately guarded or appropriately
controlled during use.
f) Any fittings or hardware needed to
mount an accessory must match the
profile of the motor arbor shaft exactly.
Accessories and fittings with arbor holes
that do not match the machines arbor may
be out of balance, vibrate excessively, and
could cause loss of operator control.
g) Do not use a damaged accessory.
Examine the machine before each work cycle.
Check for damage to the machine and to any
accessory fitted. Any fitted accessory should
free from excessive wear, and must be free
from tears, chips or cracks. If the machine is
dropped during use, it and any fitted accessory
should be examined for any consequential
damage. A damaged accessory should be
replaced with a new accessory before further
use. After the installation of a new accessory
the machine should be run at the maximum
no-load speed for at least a minute. During
this time any bystanders should be positioned
at a safe distance from the machine. An
undetected faulty accessory will normally fail
during this trail period, and debris could be
ejected forcibly from the machine.
h) Wear PPE (Personal Protective
Equipment).
Depending upon the task
undertaken this could include the use of a
face shield, safety goggles or safety glasses.
Any eye protection worn must be capable
of stopping flying debris generated by the
machining process. If necessary use a dust
mask or respirator capable of filtering the
particles produced by the machining operation.
Gloves and a boiler suit (or similar) capable
of stopping any small abrasive fragments
generated by the machining process should be
employed. As prolonged exposure to loud noise
