Chapter 3: Special Features

Blocking or Unblocking Age-Based TV Ratings
You can automatically block all program ratings above a specified age-based rating level. For example, if you only want your child to
watch programs that have a TV-G rating and lower (in other words, you want the child to watch TV-G, TV-Y7, and TV-Y), then you need
to block out higher ratings.
To block TV programs above a certain age-based limit:
1. Determine the lowest level rating you don’t want the child to watch (see chart of age-based ratings above).
2. In the
Rating Setting
menu, use the right arrow button to move to the
TV
column.
3. Highlight the lowest rating you do not want the child to watch. In the example discussed above, you would highlight TV-PG, since
the highest rating you want the child to watch is TV-G.
4. Press the OK button to toggle between Unblocked and Blocked. The status for the rating listed to the right and all higher ratings
automatically change to Blocked (with a lock icon).
Note:
The Rating Control will not block unrated programs or movies.
To unblock a movie rating:
1. In the
Rating Setting
menu, highlight the rating you want to view.
2. Press the OK button to change the button from blocked to unblocked.
V-Chip TV Ratings
The V-Chip TV Rating lets you decide which TV programs can and cannot be viewed based on age-based and content-based ratings. The
following table gives more information about how the two are related.
