Disc
When a fastener is fired through a disc, the disc
in effect gives the fastener a larger head and
increases its bearing area. Discs are used when
fastening soft materials such as wood, light gauge
metals and non-metals. When firing into concrete,
discs reduce spall area, cover what spall area is left,
and eliminate flying spall fragments
(Fig. 10, 11 &
12).
