OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Pre-Start Checklist
Before starting the engine, perform the fol-
lowing checks and procedures:
●
See Section 6-PERIODIC CHECKS AND
SERVICES, Before Every Use.
●
Your craft should be securely moored to
the dock or slip. The boat should remain
moored until the engine is warmed up
and properly running.
●
Check weather conditions and forecasts.
●
Check all life saving devices. Make sure
there is one life jacket for each person
aboard.
●
Check capacity rating plate. Do not leave
the dock with an over loaded craft!
●
Open windows, doors and engine hatch.
Check for fuel fumes and water in the
bilge area.
●
Place master battery switch on the DC
panel in the “ON” position.
●
Operate the bilge blowers for at least four
minutes before starting the engine. Allow
the blowers to run until cruising speed is
attained.
●
Check engine and transmission oil levels.
If equipped, check fresh water coolant
level.
●
Check diesel fuel valves to make sure
fuel can flow to engines.
●
Open seacock(s) for engine cooling
water, head flush water, air conditioning
water, etc., as equipped.
●
Check all intake water strainers.
●
Check steering control, throttle and shift
control linkage. Look for hydraulic leaks.
Make sure all connecting hardware is
tight.
●
Check battery charge.
●
Check fuel supply.
IMPORTANT
DO NOT rely on the accuracy of
gauges. Readings are only approxi-
mate and should always be com-
pared to the hours of use multiplied
by the known fuel consumption
(GPH).
●
Check all electrical components such as
the horn, lights, and bilge pump to be
sure they are in proper working order.
●
Make sure shift control lever is in the
NEUTRAL position.

been followed, the engines can be started.
Follow the step-by-step instructions below,
and be sure to read the engine owner’s
manual for manufacturer’s recommenda-

WARNING
Always start engines with shift
control levers in neutral. Your boat

switches which will not allow
engines to be started unless shift
control levers are in neutral posi-
tion.
1. With ignition key switches off, put both
shift control levers in neutral position.
2. Push toggle switch of engine to START
position. Release button immediately
after engine starts. The button is spring
