Before commencement of the update process a Warning window will appear informing the user of the
imminent process and allow the possibility to confirm or cancel the action.
Once the process is completed the LMS244 will automatically re-boot with the new version.
Should there have been a problem or disconnection during the update process the device probably
will not re-boot. In such a case, disconnect the power supply and then reconnect whilst simultaneously
depressing the front panel keys Up, Down and Enter. This will activate the LMS244 but not allow DSP
initialisation and no configurations will be loaded to the memory. However, connection to the PC can
be established and a further attempt to update the OS-System can be undertaken.
4.3 Security
It is often convenient to block access to the control options of the LMS244 in order to prevent the
unauthorised modification of configuration parameters.
The LMS244 offers two levels of protection; partial protection with access via a password and
complete protection with access only able to be restored with the help of a connected PC and the
software program.
To protect the LMS244 by means of a password select the button Set Password in the tool bar or
Password in the menu Configuration. The following screen will appear:
Using a combination of the device's front-panel Up, Down and Enter-Keys shown in the window, a six-
position password can be set. Transfer of the Password to the LMS244 is achieved by checking the
Password Active box and pressing OK.
Every attempt to change a parameter of the LMS244 will be met with the request to enter the
password.
The password can be removed by entering any six-position combination but leaving the box Password
Active empty on pressing Enter.
The password function can also be deactivated directly from the device by accessing the sub-menu
Password in the menu 1 Configuration and setting this to Off.
Complete protection of the device's set-up parameters can be accomplished by locking the front-panel
keys. With this function every attempt to change a parameter of the LMS244 will be met with the line
KEYBOARD LOCKED in the LCD-display.
The icons LOCK Keyboard Entry and UNLOCK Keyboard Entry turn this option on and off as do Keyb
LOCK and Keyb UNLOCK in the menu Configuration.
