Picking up either a system handset or another household telephone will allow access
to the external line unless more than two system handsets (or handsets and
speakerphone) try to engage the line. If more than two system phones try to pickup
the call or if a system handset tries to pickup a call with two system handsets already
connected, an error tone will result.
Note: A parallel (non-system) household telephone can access the external line even
if two system handsets are on the line.
