14.3.2

Status Monitoring

On/Off status of every point on as many as four (4) selected 16-point status groups
can be displayed at a time as they are being processed within the ePAQ-9400
Subsystem. Status points displayed can consist of the 16 hardware status point
connections (ePAQ terminal blocks TB3A, TB3B, and TB3C), as well as other status
points within the overall subsystem.

14.3.3

Accumulator Monitoring

Each accumulator (pulse count) point can be displayed by the ePAQ test panel
software to verify correct accumulations by the ePAQ subsystem. Up to eight (8)
accumulator points can be displayed at a time.

14.3.4

Control Operation

In the control operation mode, the ePAQ test panel software can be used to perform
local operation of the interposing relays within the ePAQ subsystem.

14.3.5

Set Point Operation

On ePAQ subsystems programmed to support Set Point operation, the test panel
can set setpoint values on IEDs only.

14.3.6

Master-Remote Communications Monitoring

In this mode of operation, the test panel can be set to monitor two-way
communications between the Master Station and ePAQ.

14.3.7

Security Features

Upon start up of the test panel software (HyperTerminal, et. al.), the test panel
connection can be configured through ConfigWiz 2.0 Admin to require a user name /
password.

The remote connection supports encryption, but the local serial connection does not.
Also, controls cannot be tested via the remote connection.

14.4

Getting Started

14.4.1

Preparing to Install USB Driver

Initial connection to the ePAQ-9400 USB port using a PC, involves installation of a
special ePAQ

USB driver onto the PC, and setup of the PC’s “HyperTerminal” or

other communications program.

The USB driver makes the ePAQ USB connection appear to the PC as a COM port
connection.

Before installing the driver, check which COM ports are already installed on your
Windows system, using Windows Device Manager. This information will be needed
when establishing a new “HyperTerminal” session for test panel communications
after the driver is installed.
