from the START position. Between the key switches is the
battery parallel switch. This switch would be depressed, if
needed, to use both port and starboard batteries to crank the
engine. The switch must be depressed continuously while crank-
ing and will return to non-parallel mode when released.
For diesel engines, the port switch starts and stops the port
engine, the starboard switch, the starboard engine. Turning the
ignition key switches all the way counter-clockwise is the OFF
position. One step clockwise from OFF is the ON position. One
more step clockwise from ON is the START position. START is
used when cranking the main engines. The key will automatically
return to ON when released from the START position. Between
the key switches is the battery parallel switch. This switch would
be depressed, if needed, to use both port and starboard batteries
to crank the engine. The switch must be depressed continuously
while cranking and will return to non-parallel mode when
released. To stop the engines, press the stop button below the
ignition switch for the engine you would like to stop. Remember
to return the ignition switch to the OFF position after the engine
has stopped.
