1. Maintain a firm grip on the tool and position your body and arms to
allow you to resist a kickback. Kickback will propel the tool in the
direction opposite to the grinding accessory’s direction of rotation. A
snagged grinding die may pull the tool out of the grasp of the user.
2. If kickback occurs, the accessory may:
2.1 pass over a body part, causing a seriously injury;
2.2 wrench the user’s arm causing muscle or joint injuries; and
2.3 strike bystanders.
3. Use clamps or a vice to hold down smaller workpieces.
4. Use special care when working on corners, sharp edges or flexible
material. These workpieces have a tendency to snag the grinding
accessory.
5. Only use grinding accessories designed for the tool.
6. Support large panels to minimize the risk of pinching the grinding
accessory. Large panels may sag under their own weight.
ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
INSTALL THE GRINDING DIE
1. Insert the wrench (#DG32) over the collet nut’s flats (#DG1).
2. Insert the small wrench (#DG31) over the collet seat’s flats (#DG4).
3. Hold the small wrench in place and turn the large wrench
counterclockwise to loosen the collet nut several turns.
4. Insert the grinder die shaft into the collet. Make sure it is fully seated.
5. Turn the large wrench clockwise to tighten the collet on the
grinding die’s shaft. Continue until the die is secure.
REPLACING THE COLLET
The tool has a 3/8 in. collet and a 1/4 in. collet.
1. Remove the collet nut by following steps 1 to 3 in Install the
Grinding Die.
2. Unscrew the collet nut and set aside.
