When the switch is set to the “Manual” position the major and minor folders extend and remain fixed in
the engaged position so that they function as flap control guides for boxes. In this mode top flaps must be
first folded by hand before entering the machine.
Arch Cross Member Vertical Slide Adjustment
The machine arch cross member supports the components that perform functions on the top of the case
being sealed (the upper tape head holder on the BEL 150, the
Snap Folders
on the BEL 200 and both the
tape head holder and
Snap Folders
on the BEL 252 models). It mounts to the arch assembly with vertical
slide bar bearings that ride inside the arch columns, allowing the cross member to move smoothly up and
down for case height adjustment.
The bearings are made of a special hard-wearing plastic material but may need periodic adjustment to
compensate for wear or for loosening due to shipping or operating vibration. If worn or loose, the
bearings allow excessive movement of the upper tape head holder and may affect taping performance.
