AC Input Power Troubleshooting
Information to hellp troubleshoot and repair
AC

. input power issues.
Precor consumer treadmills must be connected to a individual branch circuit. A 15-amp indi-
vidual branch circuit is required, but a 20-ampindividual branch circuit is recommended, see
"Power Requirements" on page 14
. The power outlet must have the same configuration as
the plug. No adapter should be used with this product.
A treadmill operating from a non-dedicated circuit or a circuit breaker of less than 15 amps
capacity will not have the necessary power to operate normally under higher load con-
ditions. The lack of available power can cause any number of symptoms ranging from
numerous intermittent (seemingly inexplicable) error conditions, poor speed control, or trip-
ping the house circuit breaker.
If any of the above symptoms exist, the external A.C. circuit must be checked and confirmed
to be a 15-amp dedicated circuit before troubleshooting the treadmill.
WARNING
: Corrective actions should only be performed by a licensed elec-
trician. Electrical shock could cause personel injury.
Probable Causes
The most common problems found are:
l
The circuit breaker is less than 15-amp capacity (minimum).
l
The outlet circuit wiring is not a dedicated branch circuit (the circuit has shared neutral
wires or hot power wires).
l
The power circuit wire length from the circuit breaker panel to the outlet receptacle is
to long causing a drop in delivered outlet power.
l
The power circuit wire gauge is smaller than required to carry the necessary 15-amp
load current causing a drop in delivered outlet power
l
Multiple treadmills plugged into the same outlet receptacle.
NOTE: Corrective actions should only be performed by a licensed electrician.
