Dynamic Braking Resistors
A dynamic brake controls the regenerated energy. The dynamic brake activates an IGBT to discharge the
DC bus over external resistors when the DC voltage overpasses a pre-set value.
SD300 drives include a built-in dynamic brake as standard. The user only has to connect a resistor between
terminals P2 and B of the power board (see Section 7.3).

Notes:
The values of the braking resistors that appear in the table are the minimum recommended values.
For a customized calculation, and adjusted to your application, please contact Power Electronics.
The braking resistor should be non-inductive.
To connect the sensor to the drive, it is recommended to use shielded cable.
The maximum cable length between the drive and the external braking resistor is 20m. For other
configurations, contact with Power Electronics.
CAUTION
Do not touch the braking resistor during the drive operation. It could be very hot (over 150ºC).
