Firmware

The PL-ELS 2100 & 2100 Ice contain control firmware that can be flash upgraded, as
described in section

“Upgrading Firmware”.. (pg 65)

The PL-ELS 2100 Ice also contains additional firmware on the cooled evaporator assembly,
to control the Peltier unit. This firmware can only be flash upgraded at the factory.

The current firmware versions (June 2006) are:

PL-ELS 2100 (rev D PCB)

v1.5.5

PL-ELS 2100 (rev A PCB)

v2.0.2

PL-ELS 2100 Ice (rev A PCB) v2.0.2

A 24bit (10Hz) digital output, via the serial port, is available with firmware versions
>= 1.5.5.

Firmware version 2.0.2 is not compatible with the rev D
PCB

Device Identifier

To allow the control of multiple ELS detectors from a single PC, PL-ELS 2100/2100
Ice with firmware versions >1.5.5 have programmable device identification. The
default value is set at 1, with a maximum of 254.

The device identity can be configured as shown in section

“Programming Device
