ENGINE SERVICE
ENGINE REMOVAL
NOTICE
The following procedure requires engine component
removal. To remove the engine without removing
engine components noted in the procedure the over
structure and fuel tank must be removed.
1. Remove the side panels.
2. Disconnect the digital display from the wiring harness
and remove hood.
3. Remove the resonator and tuned pipe. See Exhaust
Removal page 3.151.
NOTICE
The strain relief retaining the wiring harness to the
intake plenum will be cut during resonator removal.
4. If the vehicle is equipped with a battery, disconnect
the battery negative terminal at this time.
5. Draw the recoil slowly then tie a knot in the rope near
the recoil housing to secure the rope.
6. Remove the recoil handle.
7. Remove the oil level sender connector

8. Remove the oil tank mounting fastener

and washer
e
.
9. Slide the oil tank forward and tilt it on its side to gain
access to the oil line fitting.
10. Slide the springband clamp
r
down the oil line.
Remove the oil line from the fitting and quickly cap
the fitting hole.
NOTICE
Place a rag under the fitting to catch any spilled oil.
