connect a subwoofe r choose

(the bass
is out p ut f r om othe r s p eake r s).
Crossover network
• Default setting:
100Hz
This setting decides the cutoff between bass
sounds
p laying back f r om the s p eake r s
selected as
LARGE
, o r the subwoofe r , and bass
sounds p laying back f r om those selected as
SMALL
.

It also decides whe r e the cutoff will
be fo r bass sounds in the LFE channel.
1 Select ‘X.OVER’ from the SP SETUP menu.
2 Use

to choose the frequency
cutoff point.
F r equencies below the cutoff p oint will be sent
to the subwoofe r (o r
LARGE
s p eake r s).
Channel level
Using these settings, you can adjust the ove r all
balance of you r s p eake r system.
1 Select CH LEVEL from the SP SETUP menu.
2 Use

to select a setup option.

T. TONE M
– Move the test tone manually
f r om s p eake r to s p eake r and adjust
individual channel levels.

T. TONE A
– Adjust channel levels as the
test tone moves f r om s p eake r to s p eake r
automatically.
3 Confirm your selected setup option.

Speaker Distance
Fo r good sound de p th and se p a r ation f r om
you r system, you need to s p ecify the distance
of you r s p eake r s f r om the listening p osition.
The r eceive r can then add the pr o p e r delay
needed fo r effective su rr ound sound.
1 Select ‘SP DISTN.’ from the SP SETUP menu.
2 Use
/
to choose the speaker that you
want then set the distance.
Use
/
to adjust the distance of each
s p eake r (in 0.1 ft. (3 cm) inc r ements).
Note
1 If you can’t get good bass r esults, listen to the bass r es p onse with the subwoofe r set to
PLUS
and
YES
o r the f r ont s p eake r s
set to
LARGE
and
SMALL
alte r natively and let you r ea r s judge which sounds best. If you’ r e having pr oblems, the easiest o p tion
is to r oute all the bass sounds to the subwoofe r by selecting
SMALL
fo r the f r ont s p eake r s.

3 Afte r the volume inc r eases to the r efe r ence level, test tones will be out p ut.
4 • If you a r e using a Sound P r essu r e Level (SPL) mete r , take the r eadings f r om you r main listening p osition and adjust the level
of each s p eake r to 75 dB SPL (C-weighting/slow r eading).
• The subwoofe r test tone is out p ut at low volumes. You may need to adjust the level afte r testing with an actual soundt r ack.
• You can change the channel levels at any time by pr essing
RECEIVER
fi r st and then sta r ting the following o p e r ations:
CH SELECT
and
CH /–
on the r emote cont r ol. You can also change the channel levels by pr essing
RECEIVER
fi r st and
then
TEST TONE
. In this case, use the
/
buttons to select the channel and use the
/
buttons to adjust the level.
