Frame Rate
The frame rate depends on the image size, the used exposure time, the max data rate of the
GigE interface (MaxDataRateInterface) and the maximum framerate of the sensor. The image
size can be configured by the ROI settings (see Chapter 9).
Three different timing situations have to be considered:
•
Exposure time is dominant
•
Image size is dominant and limited by interface
•
Image size is dominant and limited by sensor
Depending on the timing situation the frame rate is calculated according to the formula in
Section 10.1, Section 10.2 or Section 10.3. In order to find out what is dominant, all timing
situation need to be calculated and the lowest value defines the maximum frame rate.
10.1
Exposure time is dominant
The frame rate is given by the configured exposure time. The maximal frame rate is in this
case:
FrameRate = (1 / (Exposu FramePause))
FramePause is 75

Image size is dominant and limited by interface
The fame rate is given by the configured image size and 2D/3D mode setting. Generally, the
interface is the limiting factor in 2Donly and 2D&3D mode. The maximal frame rate in this case
is given by the max data rate of the GigE interface:
FrameRate = MaxDataRateInterface / (OutputWidthMax x OutputHeightMax x 8 bits)
This formula can be applied to both 3D and 2D modes; in 3D mode, the output height is either
2 or 4 depending on the 3D DataFormat. In 2D&3D mode, the output height is 2 or 4 larger
than the ROI configured in the sensor (for more information see Section 11.5.6).
10.3
Image size is dominant and limited by sensor
The fame rate is given by the configured image size. The sensor is usually the limiting factor in
3Donly mode. The maximal frame rate in this case is given by the maximum framerate of the
sensor. It is calculated as follows for the PYTHON1300 sensor:
FrameRate = 71.91 MHz / (8850 + SensorHeight*max(80,SensorWidth/4+4))
And for the PYTHON2000 sensor:
FrameRate = 71.91 MHz / (8100 + SensorHeight*max(80,SensorWidth/8+4))
