Adjusting the top knife to the stationary knife
Requirement
Top knife 1 must bear with slight pressure sideways against the stationary knife.

Loosen the screws 2 and remove photo-cell bracket 3 .

Loosen screws 4 just enough to allow bracket 5 to be moved.

Re-position bracket 5 in sewing direction so that the top knife 1 is resting parallel on the
stationary knife with a slight pressure.

Tighten screws 4 .

The top knife 1 must move freely in the needle plate cutout.

The lug of the top knife 1 must not strike the stationary knife.

Turn the balance wheel. Top knife 1 must not touch any of the feed parts when in its bot-
tom position.

Carry out a cutting test by hand with thread chain and pieces of bridle tape. The knife
must cut perfectly across its entire cutting edge.

Refi t photo cell bracket 3 with screws 2 and position it according to see Chapter 13.07
Setting the photocell.

Reinstall the compression spring 6 and the thread and ribbon clip 7 and tighten the screw 8 .

Reconnect the compressed air.

Machine switched on.
The thread and ribbon clamp 7 must lie parallel on the throat plate when the
solenoid valve is activated (adjust if necessary by reworking).
