Improving fuel economy
A)Four main factor in fuel consumption
1-Mechanical state of the engine
Fuel consumption is increased 10% when the
engine is not tune up or does not work properly
-Air filter
Dirty and blocked air filter reduces the
efficiency of the engine (replace the air
filter at regular intervals)
2-Fuel charge system
Check the injection system, fuel pump and
hoses if they have leakage.
3-Vehicle state
-Tire air pressure
Under-inflation of the tires increases the
fuel consumption for 3 percent
-Loading cargo
Loading 100 kg cargo increases the fuel
consumption for 3 percent
4-Air resistance:
driving with vehicle
having empty luggage carrier increases fuel
consumption for 10 percent. So uninstall
luggage carrier and air deflector and mirrors
on the caravan when they are not needed
any more. Do not drop windows when driving.
It is better to use air condition.
B)Driving
Starting to drive:
you should not drive fast when the engine is
just started. Drive slowly. Do not warm up the
engine while stopping, but drive moderately
first few kilometer until the engine gets warm.
Engine rotation speed:
Driving with very high or very low engine
rotation speed increases fuel consumption. To
avoid unnecessary engine rotation speed, shift
to high speed gear immediately. Use always
gear shift suitable for road conditions and
calm driving state. Avoid sudden accelerating.
Shift to low speed gear before decrease of
speed on slops and before accelerating and
overtaking (especially from 5 gear shift).
Electrical equipments:
Use the electrical equipments only when needed.
Rear screen heater is used to demist and
defrost of the screen but it increases the fuel
consumption for ten percent.
-Road conditions and whether
Short distances: fuel consumption increase
for 25 percent when the engine is cold in first
5 km driving.
-Winding or uneven roads:
fuel consumption
increases for ten percent when driving on
such roads.
-Wind: vehicle fuel consumption increases
when it is windy. Decrease the vehicle speed
in such conditions.
To reduce fuel consumption and achieving
minimum fuel consumption, please observe
followings:
1- Make sure engine function well by
periodical inspection and maintenance of the
vehicle (on time replace of the air filter) based
on the owner manual information.
2- Use proper tire (according to the owner
manual) and adjust tire air pressure.
3- Drive relaxed and avoid unnecessary
acceleration and braking when driving.
4- Avoid driving high speed. Minimum
consumption (optimum) of the fuel
consumption is at fixed 90 km/h speed.
5- Unload all unnecessary loads from vehicle.
6- Switch off the engine when stopping for a
long time.
7- Arrange your trips in town in a way to avoid
rush hours.
8- Park your vehicle in proper places in
various seasons of the year (confined and
shady area).
9- Use proper low gear in downgrade without
pushing accelerator pedal.
Warning
Never let your vehicle under load before the
engine gets warm (do not drive with high
speed). If the engine does not turn off with
ignition switch, push the brake pedal, engage
the shift and take your foot off the clutch pedal,
engine turns off.
Notice:
-Use super unleaded gasoline with Octane
number 95 in XU7JPL3 engines.
