Loosen the cup assembly retaining clamp and 1.
remove the cup assembly from the air cleaner
housing.

Remove the primary filter element. 2. CaUTION:
Remove the safety element only if it is to
be replaced. Do not attempt to clean the
safety element. If the safety element is to be
replaced, immediately install a new element
in its place to prevent contaminants from
entering the engine.

Gently pat the sides of the primary element 5.

a hard surface. CaUTION: When using
compressed air to clean the element, make
certain the air pressure is less than 30 psi.
Clear the area of bystanders, guard against
flying chips and wear proper protective
safety equipment, including eye protection.
Clean the primary element from the inside with 6.
compressed air. Hold the nozzle next to the
inner surface and move up and down pleats.
Repeat as necessary until clean.
Inspect the primary element as follows: 7.
a. Hold a bright light inside the filter element
and check it for holes. Discard the filter
element if holes are found.
b. Inspect the outer screen for dents. Discard
the element if dented.
c. Check the filter gasket for nicks and
distortions. Replace the element if the gasket
is nicked, distorted or damaged.
