Responsibilities of the user

Before installing and commissioning the valve coupler, the user must ensure that he is conversant with the
device by reading and understanding the manual. Various procedures and instructions in this manual re-
quire special precautions in order to ensure the safety of personnel.

3.3

Safety instructions

The respective maximum values of the field devices and of the valve coupler must be considered in the sen-
se of explosion protection (demonstration of intrinsic safety) when interconnecting the intrinsically safe
field devices (auxiliary valves, sensors, etc.) with the intrinsically safe circuits of the valve coupler.

3.4

The following identification is provided at the valve coupler FD0-VC-Ex4.FF:

Work carried out on/with the device must only be undertaken by qualified specialist personnel,
duly authorised by the operator, who have read and understood this manual.

When using intrinsically safe devices in accordance with EN 50020, follow the EC Type Exami-
nation Certificate and the national regulations for installations.
In addition, follow all applicable standards, directives and factory regulations as well as the rele-
vant publications of the Fieldbus Foundation.

The fieldbus connection for the valve coupler is a certificated, intrinsically safe circuit, in accor-
dance with the FISCO and Entity model.
When interconnected according to the FISCO model, all the field devices and associated
apparatus (fieldbus repeaters) connected to this segment must be certificated in accordance
with the FISCO model in order to ensure the intrinsic safety of the complete FF-H1 segment.

In case that the valve coupler was operated with non-intrinsically safe signals it must not be used
in hazardous area then and/or be switched with intrinsically safe circuits.

Repair work at devices with intrinsically safe circuits shall be carried out by qualified personnel
with due consideration given to the applicable regulations.
We recommend urgently to have repairs made by the manufacturer. No guarantee claims will be
accepted by Fuchs GmbH resulting from improper repair work.
