The server board supports eight DDR2 400MHz low profile (1.2”) DIMMs to provide up to 16GB of
the total system memory that allow memory interleaving plus the ECC support.
The eight DIMM sockets support
Single Rank DIMMs (S for short) and Dual Rank DIMMs (D for short).
When you insert the DIMM(s), you must follow the below rules:
1) Always start with DIMM socket B1 and A1 as a pair;
2) If Single Rank DIMMs are mixed with Dual Rank DIMMs, Dual Rank DIMMs must be inserted
first.
For the location of each DIMM socket, please refer to “1.2.1 Connector and Component Locations”
and the following table:

Table 2-1 DIMM Installation Option
With two DIMMs option, collocated with two Single Rank DIMMs or two Dual Rank DIMMs;
With four DIMMs option, collocated with four Single Rank DIMMs or four Dual Rank DIMMs, or
each for two;
With six DIMMs option, collocated with six Single Rank DIMMs or four Single Rank DIMMs plus
two Dual Rank DIMMs;
With eight DIMMs option, collocated with eight Single Rank DIMMs.
Note:
•
The empty DIMM socket is marked as “
”.
•
All the low profile (1.2”) DIMMs installed must be at the same speed.
•
Don't configure more than four dual rank DDR DIMMs, otherwise it will result in the
BIOS generating a memory configuration error.
