Seat Belts - Which Ones Are Safe To Use With This Car Seat
Lap/shoulder belt (3-point) with
Switchable Locking Retractor (ELR —>
ALR) and free sliding latch plate. This type
of seat belt has a latch plate that moves
freely along the belt. To activate the ALR
mode, pull the belt all the way out. Some
vehicles may require another activation
method (check vehicle owner’s manual for
details). Once activated, the belt will not
extend unless allowed to retract all the way.
Rear facing installation can be done using
the ALR or a locking clip. In some vehicles,
the shoulder strap can tend to tilt the
seat sideways when tightened. In this
case, a locking clip may provide a better
installation.
Forward facing installation should be done
with the ALR and the lock off clips located
on the car seat metal frame.
Important Note: The lock off clips located
on the car seat metal frame are used to
enhance the stability during normal use.
The lock offs are not designed to replace
an automatic locking retractor or a locking
latch plate. The vehicle belt must be
properly tightened to secure the child seat
to the vehicle.
