FDNY COA #5585 CONDITIONS of APPROVAL
1.
Prior to installation of the PSG electrostatic air cleaner, plans must be filed with and accepted by
New York City Department of Building (DOB). Additionally, a copy of DOB docketed plans shall
be transmitted to the Fire Department for review and approval.
2.
Actuation of the fire protection system shall cause shutdown of electric power to the
electrostatic precipitator without causing shut down of the exhaust fan. Grease exhaust duct on
outlet of electrostatic precipitator shall terminate outside the building.
3.
Prior to use of the refe4renced PSG electrostatic air cleaner, the fire extinguishing system shall
be subject to the FDNY Range Hood Inspection Unit’s approval.
4.
ESP modules should be visually inspected weekly in order to identify problems such as moderate
to extreme contaminant build up which can occur even though the high voltage indicator lights
are illuminated.
5.
Installation, maintenance, cleaning procedures and use of above referenced products shall
comply with all applicable New York City Fire Code, New York City Electrical Code, Construction
Codes, rules and regulations.
6.
The entire PSG electrostatic air cleaner shall be inspected, cleaned and replaced if necessary, by
the manufacturer trained and/or certified agent. A record of such inspection and cleaning shall
be kept on the premises for inspection.
7.
Certificate of Approval number shall be plainly and permanently stamped or otherwise affixed
upon each product by the manufacturer or the local sales representative of the manufacturer.
NOTE:
product must already be identified with Certificate of Approval number before it arrives
at New York City job site.
8.
The Fire Suppression system should be serviced by an authorized fire suppression company
semi-annually. The fusible links used in the system are to be changed annually and are date
stamped by NYC code.
9.
Intertek’s ETL listing requirements and safety limitations shall be complied with and
manufacture’s installation, maintenance procedures and safety limitations shall be complied
with.
10.
All installations shall be subject to inspection by representatives of the Bureau of Fire Prevention
which may result in added requirements being imposed.
11.
The Fire Department Certificate of Approval does not constitute an endorsement or
recommendation of your products by the Fire Department, but is a certification that your
product, as represented, meets the standards as of the date of issuance.
12.
End users that fail to comply with the conditions as outlined in the acceptance will be subject to
enforcement action which may include fines and imprisonment.
