6.7 Image Defects
Status Cause Recommended Solutions
Lightly exposed
image
1. Toner is low.
2. A poor connection at the
high-voltage contact of the
engine board due to
contaminated toner.
3. The high-voltage output of the
engine board is abnormal.
1. Replace the toner cartridge
2. Clean the area contaminated
with toner.
3. Clean the high-voltage charge
contacts of the engine board or
replace the engine board.
Whole page is dark
1. The high-voltage charge
output of the engine board is
abnormal.
2. The primary charge roller is
faulty.
1. Clean the high-voltage charge
contacts or replace the engine
board.
2. Replace the toner cartridge.
Horizontal stripes 1. Poor connection between the
high-voltage contact and the
toner cartridge.
2. The developing roller is
contaminated; OPC or
primary charge roller is
damaged.
3. Paper pickup skidding.
1. Clean the high-voltage
contacts or replace the engine
board.
2. Replace the toner cartridge.
3. Clean or replace the pickup
roller.
Black/white spots 1. Some areas of the toner
cartridge are contaminated or
the OPC is damaged.
2. If there are 43.99mm cyclical
spots appearing on the image,
it means that the high-voltage
transfer is abnormal or the
transfer roller is damaged.
1. Replace the toner cartridge.
2. Clean the transfer high-voltage
contact or replace the transfer
roller.
3. Clean up paper scraps and dirt
from inside of the printer regularly.
