voltage is higher than the exposed area of the OPC but lower than the unexposed area. When the
electrostatic field between the OPC and DR reacts, the toner will adhere to the exposed area of
the OPC to form a visible image.
3.4.4 Transfer
When the sheet being printed goes through the layer between the transfer roller (TR) and the OPC,
high voltage opposite the toner charger is fed to the transfer roller, causing an electric field
between the TR and OPC, which affects the toner. The toner is then transferred to the sheet.
Because the back of the sheet going through the transfer roller has an opposite charge, the toner
will adhere to the sheet being printed after the next step, which is separation from the OPC.
3.4.5 Separation
The transferred sheet is positively charged. The sheet being printed will be attracted to the OPC
by a negative charge after separation from the transfer roller. Separation pads are then inserted
near the paper guide path, parallel with the sheet when separated from the transfer roller.
Separation pads are grounded and live, with the distance to the sheet being between 1-2mm.
Gravity forces the separation pads to drop from the OPC.
