Installation Instructions
BAT[X]M4-6-60[-X] Series
SW3-1097 - v1
1. Introduction
The BAT[X]M4-6-60[-X] series is a line of adhesive mount 4x4 MiMo 4G LTE / 5G NR antennas designed for easy internal installation, either in-vehicle or in-building.
Versions of the antenna are available with support for L1 or L1/L5 GPS/GNSS function and 2, 3 or 4 elements for WiFi 6e / WiFi 7.
The antenna is fitted with low loss coaxial cables for ease of installation and can be permanently mounted via the supplied adhesive pads or screw fixings. Two suction
cups are also supplied for temporary mounting.
Version of this product contain an active GPS/GNSS antenna.
BATGM4 part numbers contain an L1 only GPS/GNSS antenna: Rated voltage: 3-5VDC Rated current: 20mA maximum
BATG5M4 part numbers contain an L1/L5 GPS/GNSS antenna: Rated voltage: 3-5VDC Rated current: 37mA maximum
The supply to these devices must be provided with overcurrent protection of 1A maximum.
2. Mounting requirements and selecting location
For in-vehicle use, the BAT[X]M4-6-60[-X] antenna is designed to be fitted on or under a vehicle dashboard, located as far forward as possible to optimise view to
the sky, but it can also be mounted on or under any non-conductive panel in any context provided that, for versions with GPS, the location allows an adequate view
of the sky. A position should be selected to ensure there is no metal close to the antenna. When the antenna includes GPS/GNSS, it should be fitted flat with the
beveled side side facing towards the sky and the flat side facing downwards.
The antenna can if necessary be mounted vertically to the window of a building and still achieve adequate GPS reception. If attempting this installation method GPS
reception should be tested in the desired install location before permanently affixing the antenna. In this case the antenna should be positioned with the face marked
‘This side faces the sky’ facing out of the window. The antenna should not be installed to metalised or metal re-enforced windows.
Ensure that the antenna is mounted a minimum 10cm (4”) away from any metal structure. The antenna must not be fitted adjacent to or in near proximity to a vehicle
electronic control unit (ECU).
Versions without GPS/GNSS can be mounted horizontally or vertically on any non-conductive wall or panel. For in-building installation, for reliability when mounting
to internal walls or surfaces, it is advisable to use screw fixings rather than the adhesive pad. The suction cups can be used for temporary mounting to very smooth
surfaces such as glass windows.
3. Mounting using the adhesive pad
Note: It is recommended that the installation is carried out when the temperature is greater than 50°F (10°C). The ideal temperature for the pad bonding is 70°F (21°C)
to 100°F (37°C).
Before fitting, ensure that both the antenna face and mounting surfaces are clean and free of grease – use the supplied alcohol swab and allow the cleaned surfaces
to dry before proceeding to fit the adhesive pad.
Remove the protective backing from the adhesive pad and place on correct face of the antenna to enable the beveled side to face the sky (if applicable).
Position the antenna and apply adequate pressure to ensure that it has adhered evenly and firmly.
