1-1 Main Components and Their Functions

Getting to Know Your Copier

* indicates that the feature may not be available on certain models.

Finisher (optional)

Enables stapling and hole-punching.

Fixes the printed image on the paper by fusing the toner. Do not touch this unit as it is

extremely hot.

Drum Cartridge

Comprises devices such as a photoreceptor drum and charge corotrons.

Transfer Unit

Transfers the toner image on the drum to the paper. Pull out this unit to clear paper jams.

Toner Cartridge

Contains toner (image forming powder).

Breaker Switch

Controls the power supply to the machine. Once leakage is detected, this switch will

automatically interrupt the power supply to the machine. It is usually left in the “I” position.

Finisher Front Door

Open this door to remove jammed paper, and replace or remove staples.

Finisher Top Cover

Open this cover to remove jammed paper.

Finisher Tray 2

Receives stapled, punched, or high capacity copy output.

Finisher Tray 1

Receives copy output other than stapled, punched, or high capacity.
