7. Cleaning
7.1 General Information
From time to time, the dilution system should be cleaned, depending on frequency of use
and degree of dirtiness. In most cases, a careful blowing of the VKL with compressed air is
sufficient. In doing this, give the inlet nozzle and the mixing chamber special attention.
7.1.1 Cleaning of the Inlet Nozzle
The working ability of the inlet nozzle can be checked in mounted condition by looking
through the nozzle, mixing chamber and outlet nozzle against a light background. The nozzle
must have, in its entire circumference, a perfectly circular shape. If this is not the case, the
nozzle must be dismounted and must be cleaned, for example in an ultrasonic bath, or by
cleaning it with a solvent.
To dismount the nozzle, unscrew the two screws in the nozzle flange, and pull out carefully
the nozzle with O-ring 1 and flange out of the casing. To install the nozzle, follow the
reversed order.
IMPORTANT:
When re-installing the nozzle, the O-ring must not be inbetween nozzle and casing, but
inbetween flange and nozzle. This O-ring has not so much the function of a seal, but more so
the function of a locking mechanism.
7.1.2. Cleaning of the Outlet Nozzle
To clean the outlet nozzle, simply pull it out of the VKL casing and blow for example
compressed air through it. Then, grease the guiding face of the outlet nozzle slightly with
vaseline, and push the nozzle into the outlet opening until it arrests.
