1.
Training
a)
Familiarise yourself with the instruction manual before using the equipment.
b)
Never allow children or persons unfamiliar with these instructions to operate the machine. Local
regulations may restrict the age of the operator.
c)
Never operate the machine while people, especially children, or pets are in the vicinity.
d)
Remember that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards that occur to other
people or their property.
e)
Major repair work may only be carried out by specially trained personnel.
2.
Preparation
a)
THIS HEDGE TRIMMER CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY. Read the instructions carefully for proper
handling, preparation, maintenance, starting and stopping the hedge trimmer. Familiarize yourself
with all controls and proper use of the hedge trimmer.
b)
Never let children use the hedge trimmer.
c)
Be aware of overhead power lines.
d)
Avoid working while people, especially children, are around.
e)
Wear suitable work clothes! Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery that can get caught in moving
parts. It is recommended to wear sturdy gloves, non-slip footwear and safety glasses.
f)
Take extra care when handling fuels. They are flammable and the vapours are explosive. The
following points must be observed.

Use only approved containers.
−
Never remove the fuel cap or refuel while the engine is running. Allow the engine and
exhaust components to cool down before refuelling.
−
Don't smoke.
−
Never refuel indoors.
−
Never store the hedge trimmer or fuel container indoors where there is an open flame, such
as near a water heater.
−
If fuel is spilled, never attempt to start the engine, but move the hedge trimmer away from
the spillage before starting it.
−
Always replace the fuel cap and tighten it securely after refuelling.
−
If the fuel tank needs to be emptied, this should be done outdoors.
g)
If the cutting mechanism hits a foreign object or if the hedge trimmer starts making unusual noises
or vibrations, switch off the engine and bring the hedge trimmer to a standstill. Disconnect the spark
plug cable from the spark plug and take the following steps:

Check for damage.
−
Check for and tighten any loose parts.
−
Replace all damaged parts or repair with parts of equivalent specifications.
