CHAPTER 3: COMMISSIONING AND STARTUP
The PBM753 card is powered from mains by means of a 24VAC auxiliary transformer with an input of 100mA
max. Therefore no message is displayed only battery connection.
On connecting also mains, the PBM753 card performs a test
lighting up all LED’s
.
Once the self-test has been completed, only the green “BATTERY CONNECTED” LED (L1) remains lit.
NOTE:
a 24V alternated current, generated by the auxiliary transformer, powers the card. If the charger is
powered from mains and the card does not switch on, check the corresponding circuit (from mains input to the
card through the auxiliary transformer).
CHAPTER 4: SETTING OF THE BATTERY VOLTAGE, ADJUSTMENT OF THE THRESHOLD (GASSING)
VOLTAGE, AND CHARGING STAGES
•
Select battery voltage by inserting the
J1
jumpers according to the rated voltage of the installed battery. It
is possible to set 24V, 36V, 40V, 48V, 72V, 80V, and 96V.
•
After the
J10
jumper has been properly set, the card automatically sets the voltage value corresponding to
the gassing voltage, which may range between 2,3 and 2,5V/cell.
•
By turning the one-turn
VGAS
trimmer, it is possible to set the gassing voltage with a very high accuracy,
as described in Chapter 4.1.
•
The PBM753 card features two modes of gassing voltage setting by means of the
J9
jumper :
•
By setting the
J9 jumper to FIX, the gassing threshold is set to 2.4V/cell with an error of±0,05V
, due
to the components tolerance.
•
Setting the
J9 jumper to REG
., the gassing voltage can be set with the highest accuracy (±0,01V/cell) by
means of the one-turn VGAS trimmer.
•
NOTE : The calibration at 2,4V/cell) once it is done, it remains valid (with an accuracy of ± 0,02V/el.)
for all battery voltages.
At room temperature (25°C), the standard SETTING VALUES are the following:
Nominal
Voltage battery
Calibration values with EXACT setting –
J9>REG (2,4V/el.)
Calibration values with QUICK setting –
J9>FIX (2,4V/el.±0,05)
24 V
28,8 V
28,3V÷29,2V
36 V
43,2 V
42,6V÷43,8V
40 V
48,0 V
47,3V÷48,7V
48 V
57,6 V
56,7V÷58,4V
72 V
86,4 V
85,1V÷87,7V
80 V
96,0 V
94,5V÷97,4V
96 V
115,2 V
113,5V÷116,9V
•
Please note that the above-mentioned voltage is to be measured on battery side. If the card is not set on
site, the VGAS trimmer has to be calibrated for a voltage, measured on the card, exceeding the rated value
by 0,3-0,4V. This allows to take into account the voltage drop which usually occurs on the charging cables.
•
On reaching the threshold value, the yellow LD4 LED lights up.
•
If the threshold voltage is exceeded for more than 10 seconds, the LD4 LED remains lit.
•
Therefore the threshold setting has to be completed within that time.
